Muddlers

The Muddler Minnow is a classic streamer fly that's been a staple in fly fishing since 1936. It was originally created by Don Gapen in Minnesota to imitate sculpin minnows for catching massive Nipigon Brook Trout, but it's become so much more versatile than that!

Construction:
  • Deer hair head - spun and clipped to create a distinctive bulky, buoyant head
  • Turkey wing quill - creates the wing silhouette
  • Marabou or squirrel tail - provides lifelike movement
  • Gold tinsel body - adds flash and attraction

  • The spun deer hair head is the signature feature - it's what makes a Muddler a "Muddler"
