Barbless Blakestone Buzzer

The Blakeston Buzzer was created around 1988–89 by Martin Blakeston of Corby, Northamptonshire, as an imitation of Chironomid pupae. During the late 1970s, while managing Bob Church’s tackle shop in Corby, Martin was given a large spool of pearl Lurex by a customer who worked at a local textile mill. He began incorporating the material into his patterns, eventually developing this distinctive buzzer. Martin notes that it’s an excellent deep‑water pattern when fished from a boat, especially on a long leader.
