The Alder wet fly is quite an inactive  little fly in its natural state which is perhaps what I would call a lazy strike for the trout. They spend their time resting, so its best fished letting it float with the current or a few little jerks to imitate a dying one. The alder flies are known to be clumsy and easily fall into the water so the trout find the alder fly an easy food.
