Fly Fishing in winter months is not as difficult as it sounds. Most fisheries are now open all year and provide the much needed dose of fly fishing we require.
It would be easy to take the opportunity of winter fishing to simply use lures but trout feed on much more than this, there are plenty of days when they will feed on buzzers, and winter sun can also see them surfacing to take the small dry flies we see hovering in the winter.
We have put together a selection of flies we consider to be a good winter selection to give you a good choice. Don't forget the golden rule of watching what the fish are doing to establish the best ones to use.
