The alder dry fly although a traditional early season fly is well able to catch in the summer months, fish the alder fly near walls or vegetation to get a good result. The alder will work well near overhanging trees and bushes as this is where the natural insects often fall into the water, can also act as a caddis substitute as well. Recommended trout fly.
