Mayflies are of course the hot product
at the moment for another month we will see a mass of feeding frenzie
as the mayflies hatch and die within such a fast time the fish are
striking at anything landing on the water with a resemblence of one of
their favorite foods.
Remember the trout will take the humpy
and wulff fly throughout this period and they can be a little more
robust. With this in mind you will find 12 humpys in a pack on special
offer for one month only at just £3.25. You can find them here:
Humpys Special Offer
We have added to the Comp - Lite boxes Range from Richard Wheatley this

if you have not seen them check them out.
Look out for the new pheasant tail hotheads coming soon
Just a quick note to advise we have put a considerable amount of flies on special offer. As you know our prices are fantastic to start with so these offers really are a good bargain. We have put them in batches of 12 and 6 within their own section
We will have a minimal service available throughout the holiday period and if you require an urgent order I would recommend you ring us to see if it is possible. Our last dispatch prior to Christmas will be Wednesday the 23rd December although Royal Mail are recommending last posting day as the 21st December
Now in stock the Damsel with the blue flash, tied on a goldhead great for winter fishing
Winter or cold weather fly fishing is generally done on weighted flies or a sub surface flies. Nymphs and wets presented in this manner will probably get the best results. Weighted nymphs and wets can get down pretty fast if you need to fish at a deep level. Weights can also be added to your line if the flies are tied without beadheads or wire for weight This is not to say that dry flies will not come in useful as you will sometimes see some surface activity. Keep your eyes open to what is going on around you and be prepared to swap flies and do not be despondent if the fly you caught 6 with last weekend is not working today!
Weighted lures especially in the goldheads are a popular fly throughout the winter months, our selection is quite vast and I would suggest you take quite a few different colours if this is your chosen method. Gold head trout flies can be fished on any line, from a full floater to the fastest of sinkers.
Just
a quick note to advise the new colours from Uni Thread on the pre wax
6/0 and 8/0 are now available. These include Iron Grey, Rust Dun,Green,
Pink and FL Orange on the 8/0 and Royal Blue, Doctoe Blue and Camel on
the 6/0
This means we now hold every colour available on this tying thread.
Sili Legs are also now in stock, with a good colour selection.
This
week sees the arrival of some super new flies. The woolly buggers in
Red Black and Olive, all goldhead have arrived, also a fantastic range
of goldhead glass epoxy flies, excellent colours. The black zonker is
now available in goldhead and a range of cormorants have also arrived,
including a black booby one. So some great cooler weather flies for you
to chose from. There is still more to come including a super blue flash
damsel sent in by a customer, this should be available in the next few
weeks.
Also arriving in this week will be a full range of Richard Wheatley Fly Boxes, they should be on the site at the weekend.
At last the snatchers are in for all who asked, also new in this week are the Gordon Griffiths tying thread
We have added new boxed sets under the variety selections catagory which include various batches of flies in handy little snap boxes, perfect for your pocket, we will add more and more selections as soon as we get chance
Please note we have been adding a lot more variety selections on all the different types of flies, these are very popular for speed purchasing. I know a lot of you prefer to pick each individual fly but have a look at the batches we have put together, we think you will like them.
Albeit a very busy summer we are still getting orders out the same day so if Royal Mail behave you do get your order generally the next day

The blog page we promised is now live from the main site and I am
trying to get fishing venues listed from around the country as well as
fly fishing clubs and associations. We are run off our feet at the
moment keeping you all supplied with flies so please bare with me as
time on the blog is limited at the moment. Hopefully when winter lands
and things quieten a bit I will be able to get plenty of useful
information on there. One of the items I have been discussing recently
with a new starter to fly fishing is a calendar of flies in a format
useful for choosing your fly for the month and conditions etc. Any
input would be greatly appreciated.
If you have any stories, photos or information you would like to add
just drop me an email and I will get it on the site for you. Don’t be
shy! Every fisherman loves to brag!! There is also an area on their for you to leave your comments, If your happy with our service and can spare a minute to tell us... we really appreciate it.
